Equity, Diversity and Inclusion within the Office of Leadership, Service and Career

The Office of Leadership, Service and Career strives to build experiences for students which help them shape their brand. We do this by encouraging students to explore, investigate, take risks, volunteer, intern, travel to new places, lead and build mentoring and professional relationships.

The Office of Leadership, Service and Career acknowledges all local indigenous peoples, including the Yokuts and Miwuk, who inhabited the land where UC Merced is located. We embrace their continued connection to this region and thank them for allowing us to live, work, learn, and collaborate on their traditional homeland.

The Office of Leadership, Service and Career (OLSC) consists of the following units: Basic Needs, the Center for Career & Professional Advancement (CCPA), the Community Engagement Center, and the Margo F. Souza Student Leadership Center. All units within OLSC are committed to working towards equity and inclusion. OLSC also works to increase and promote diversity through our work.

OLSC welcomes all students, alumni, staff, faculty, employer partners and community members from all cultures, identities, talents, interests and communities. We work to address existing frameworks that contribute to oppression including racism, heterosexism, ableism, classism, xenophobia, ageism, sexism, transphobia, microaggressions, and all other forms of discrimination.

Each of the units within our office have developed strategies to ensure that we meet our commitment through the work that we do on a daily basis.
